IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? In which cases is it handy?
In case you notice a large increase in the online traffic to your site and in case after you check the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from countries around the world or from other web servers, your site is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. Those pieces of software go through random websites trying to log in to their administrator area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments underneath every article where this kind of an option is offered. Unfortunately, that is something relatively popular in recent times, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you'll be able to block them, so the bots will not be able to access your site in any way. Needless to say, you'll be able to block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting
Our
Linux shared hosting packages feature an IP blocking tool, so in case you'd like to restrict the access to your Internet sites, you'll be able to do this with just several clicks. The tool is part of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts and which is very simple to use. Once you log in and go to the IP blocking section, you will just need to select a domain or a subdomain hosted in the account and enter the IP address that should be blocked. Our system allows you to block whole networks too, so if you type 123.123.123., for instance, this shall block all IP addresses between 123.123.123.1 and 123.123.123.255 from accessing your websites. If you wish to whitelist an IP at some point, you can unblock it with simply a click from the same section.
